5 Things That Happened When I Gave Up Coffee for the Week

Coffee. It’s the most popular beverage in the world, next only to water. It’s a part of our morning rituals as we get the day started. Wake up. Stretch. Get Ready. Go for coffee. Then the day happens.

But too much of anything typically results in some type negative side-effects. You can even drink too much water and end up in the hospital.

I’d like to think that coffee has no real effect on me and that it is a habit that I can kick whenever I want to. Except I don’t want to, so I will drink it forever and ever.

Except for this week. This week I decided to take a much needed break from the stuff. Not for any spiritual epiphany reasons. My rewards card hit 0$ and I took it as a sign to take a break, at least for a few days.

Maybe after reading this, you will decide to take a small vacation from it as well, just to recover from the potential lingering effects that the caffeine molecule provides.

5. I didn’t die

The feeling of dread as I drove past the coffee shop on day 1 was palpable. What was I going to drink during my morning 1-hour walk I thought. Water? Tea? Nothing? Maybe coffee and I would start this experiment tomorrow? That one was tempting.
