I built a website for someone in exchange for cookies and did not regret it

Money is overrated sometimes. It’s a symbol of some implied work and you carry it around in your pocket as its value fluctuates up and down without your awareness. But it’s convenient, as it beats having to lug around 2 kilos of salt in your car in order to buy a shirt.
That’s why I tried something completely different with a recent client of mine. Something that used to be commonplace not that long ago in our societies, but that might seem off-putting in the age of material wealth and consumerism where cash is king.
It started when I ate a really good cookie from a coffee shop that came in a very matter of fact packaging with a small logo of a cow and an email right below it. Who am I kidding. It was a great cookie. It was gluten-free, had real fruit in it, and probably weighed in at a pound at least.
Googling the name of the company I found no real results besides a few trademark pages dealing with the name and the logo. So I did what any freelancer would do. I sent an email.
